PGI promotes Additive Manufacturing as way to boost platinum use in jewellery industry

Platinum Guild International (PGI), headquartered in Hong Kong, has highlighted Additive Manufacturing as a technological advancement that can help tackle the challenges facing the jewellery industry in its 2024 Platinum Jewellery Business Review.
“Driving sales and value for platinum jewellery for our strategic partners is our imperative in order to create demand in ounces. We do this by implementing powerful new creative ideas, introducing technology and design as well as triggering consumer behaviour. This year, we are also expanding our reach to new categories and markets,” stated Tim Schlick, CEO of PGI.

The review showcased how PGI creates demand through the strategic actions integrated into the region’s markets.
In China, for example, PGI has promoted technological advances in the jewellery industry, such as introducing new alloys, Additive Manufacturing and new industrial applications. PGI also introduced technical expertise and support on the manufacturing floor, helping manufacturers obtain products and materials and providing education, training, and know-how through PlatinumABC, PGI’s proprietary content platform.
