Numanova, a subsidiary of Italeaf SpA based in Nera Montoro, near Rome, has announced that regional authorities have now issued the necessary licences for its production plant in Nera Montoro eco-industrial park to begin manufacturing metal powders.

The company will produce a range of metal powders suited to Additive Manufacturing (AM), Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) for advanced industrial sectors such as aerospace, energy, automotive, mechanical and biomedical industries.

It was stated that the Numanova factory will install two atomisation systems. An electrode induction-melting inert gas atomisation system will be used for the production of metal powders from titanium and aluminium alloys, refractory materials, ceramics and precious metal alloys. The company will use a vacuum induction-melting inert gas atomisation system for the production of ferrous metal powders and alloys of nickel, cobalt and zirconium. Both these technologies are said to have a reduced environmental impact and high intrinsic safety levels.
