Elsevier will shortly publish Fundamentals of Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Metals by Igor Yadroitsev, Ina Yadroitsava, Anton Du Plessis and Eric MacDonald, the latest volume in its Additive Manufacturing Materials and Technologies series.

The book comprehensively covers all aspects of Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) Additive Manufacturing, starting with the basic concepts leading towards more advanced topics in later chapters. In addition to explaining the fundamentals and providing reference information, the content includes discussions of the limitations, challenges, and potential research and commercial opportunities moving forward.

PBF-LB enables the production of components with sufficient performance to be qualified in end-use mission-critical applications, as is evidenced by many featured examples in the book. To fully utilise the advantages of this AM technology, an in-depth understanding is needed. This is the aim of the book – to provide an in-depth understanding of PBF-LB and thereby allow more advances to be made.

Fundamentals of Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Metals is an edited volume comprising twenty-four chapters authored by more than fifty experts from around the world. It is suitable for industry engineers, CEOs, researchers, students and anyone seeking to learn more about PBF-LB. It is also said to be suitable as a comprehensive textbook for universities, as well as a reference for industry professionals.

Fundamentals of Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Metals will be published on June 1, 2021.
