NAMI gains Saudi military manufacturing licence
3D Systems, based in Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA, has announced that the National Additive Manufacturing and Innovation Company (NAMI), headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been granted a Military Manufacturing Licence by Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI).
NAMI is a joint venture between 3D Systems, Dussur (Saudi Arabian Industrial Investments Company) and Saudi Energy. The licence authorises NAMI to undertake regulated military manufacturing activities within Saudi Arabia, making it one of a limited number of companies in the country to receive this authorisation.
“This license expands NAMI’s addressable market and strengthens the foundation for long-term growth,” stated Eng Mohammed Swaidan, CEO of NAMI. “It enables us to deploy our established manufacturing capabilities across regulated defence programmes, expand the production of mission-critical parts, and advance Saudi Arabia’s position in advanced manufacturing.”
The licence is expected to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objective of localising more than 50% of military spending by 2030. It also enables NAMI to work more closely with international defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on the qualification and production of aerospace and defence components within the country.
NAMI focuses on three strategic sectors in Saudi Arabia: military aerospace and defence, oil and gas, and energy generation and transmission. The company states that its Additive Manufacturing capabilities also support efforts to strengthen supply chain resilience by enabling localised, on-demand production of critical components.
According to IMARC Group, Saudi Arabia’s Additive Manufacturing market is currently valued at more than US$300 million and is projected to approach US$2 billion by 2034. The company attributes this growth to Vision 2030 initiatives aimed at increasing localisation across the defence, energy and industrial sectors.
