MetShape wins Metal Additive Manufacturing Award 2022
October 14, 2022
MetShape GmbH, a spin-off of the University of Pforzheim, Germany, has won the Metal Additive Manufacturing Award 2022 at the 7th Metal Additive Manufacturing Conference hosted by the Austrian Society for Metallurgy and Materials (ASMET) in Graz, Austria.
MetShape was founded in 2019 as a service provider to make metal precision parts for industrial applications via a high-precision Vat Photopolymerisation (VPP) process the company refers to as Lithography-based Metal Manufacturing (LMM). The company focused explicitly on the second production step of indirect Additive Manufacturing: debinding and sintering. Since its inception, MetShape has established a customer base in industries such as medical technology, luxury, and jewellery, as well as the mechanical engineering and metal processing industry.
The awarding jury selected MetShape and two other startups to present their respective business pitches at the conference. At the event, MetShape’s Dr Andreas Baum, CEO, and Mike Schimmelpfennig, Head of Sales, represented the company and displayed the importance of its sintering experience in producing efficient, high-quality small and micro-metal parts which do not require expensive post-processing.
MetShape has stated that receiving the Metal Additive Manufacturing Award on an international stage will motivate the team to expand on its goals of adding further sinter-based technologies to its portfolio.
