The deadline for abstract submission for the Fourth Symposium on Materials and Additive Manufacturing 2024 is February 15, 2024. Organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde e.V. (DGM) the event will allow participants the option to attend in either Bremen, Berlin, or online.

The symposium will showcase the latest trends and innovations in metal Additive Manufacturing, specifically in the field of materials science. The event will cover a wide range of techniques, including laser and electron beam melting, Binder Jetting, and Direct Energy Deposition. Participants will explore key topics such as the processing of advanced metals, the development of new alloys, mechanical and microstructural properties, powder recycling, and process optimisation.

The topics for abstracts are as follows:

  • AM processing of titanium, aluminium, nickel-based alloys, copper and other metallic metals
  • Mechanical properties of parts and assurance of their reproducibility
  • In-situ heat treatment, post-heat treatment and mechanical post-processing
  • Microstructure evolution and its influence on material properties
  • New alloys for metal Additive Manufacturing
  • Graded properties of additively manufactured parts
  • Multi-material AM
  • Powder development and recycling aspects
  • Simulation-based development of AM processes and materials
  • Formation and effects of defects
