MELD PrintWorks Corporation, a spin-off of MELD Manufacturing Corporation, Christiansburg, Virginia, USA, has announced the appointment of Larry Vicari as President. With over 30 years of expertise in operations, engineering, and strategic leadership, Vicari is believed to be positioned to drive MELD PrintWorks’ mission to revolutionise manufacturing with a patented MELD process, enabling the Additive Manufacturing of large metal components to meet growing market demands.

Vicari brings two decades of experience from Luna Innovations, where he held the role of Vice President of Operations. Luna Innovations, a company specialising in advanced optical technology and sensor solutions, grew from 18 employees to 500 during Vicari’s tenure, fuelled by mergers and acquisitions that established it as a global entity. He directly managed operations for four North American locations – in Blacksburg, Virginia; Atlanta, Georgia; Chino, California; and Santa Clara, California – overseeing more than 200 employees.

During his tenure, he achieved significant accomplishments, including securing a $6.2 million deal with Lockheed Martin and a multi-million-dollar order from Northrop Grumman, both aimed at ensuring F-35 readiness under the F-35 IDIQ contract. Additionally, Vicari led the sale and implementation of two advanced sensor technologies into electric vehicles (EVs) for the world’s largest EV manufacturer. His collaborations also included work with the Department of Defense, demonstrating his extensive industry knowledge.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Coastal Carolina University, a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification from Purdue University, and his experience as a United States Marine Corps Veteran, Vicari’s combined technical expertise and strategic acumen position him well to lead MELD PrintWorks’ growth. His deep understanding of manufacturing with quality assurance, coupled with his experience scaling high-growth companies, aligns with MELD PrintWorks’ objectives to expand its leadership in the global Additive Manufacturing market. Vicari is focused on supporting industry customers as they navigate supply chain challenges in obtaining forgings, castings, and other critical metal components.
