The Kickstarter campaign for Impossible Works: the Book of 3D Printed Art by Michael Molitch-Hou is now live. Once published, Impossible Works will document how Additive Manufacturing is reshaping sculpture, architecture, fashion, industry, medicine, food and more.

“Over the past decade, AM has moved from making experimental prototypes to making museum collections, aerospace production lines, medical implants, and architectural landmarks,” stated Molitch-Hou. “Yet the aesthetic revolution it sparked has never been collected in a single serious art book.”

The book, available in both print and PDF editions, will present a collection of images that highlight the aesthetic impact of Additive Manufacturing.

The volume is expected to feature approximately 52,000 words and more than 350 images documenting the geometry, materials, and ideas. The content will cover:

  • Delicate lattice sculptures
  • Fully articulated gowns by couture designers
  • Architectural experiments in clay and metal
  • Aerospace components that resemble alien fossils
  • Bioprinted tissues and medical implants
  • Additively manufactured food and confectionery

“Some objects look like fossils from another world. Some feel like artefacts from the future. This book captures the moment when digital design became physical reality,” Molitch-Hou added.
