AKL’20, the International Laser Technology Congress, organised by Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT), Aachen, Germany, has been postponed due to the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19). The biennial conference, now in its 13th edition, was originally set to take place from May 6–8, 2020. An alternative date has yet to be confirmed.

“According to the current situation the management decided not to move forward with AKL’20, to which about 600 attendees and more than eighty lecturers were expected,” the organisers wrote in an official statement. “The exhibit is fully booked. This is a preventative measure. Depending on the future development of the pandemic, we will decide on an alternative date for the conference.”

“We understand the impact this might have for you with respect to this important networking event of the laser community,” they continued. “We ask for your understanding in us taking this decision.”
