Formnext, organised by Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, will be held for the fifth time from November 19–22, 2019, in Frankfurt, Germany. As of the end of September 2019, the organisers report that more than 740 companies from thirty-four nations will be exhibiting, a rise of 17% on the previous year. The exhibition floor area in 2019 will also be over 50,000 m², 35% larger than at Formnext 2018, with the event taking place over three floors in Halls 11 and 12 at Messe Frankfurt.

“With a wide range of solutions as well as established and completely new special topics, Formnext 2019 once again represents the global benchmark for Additive Manufacturing and modern industrial production,” stated Sascha F Wenzler, Vice President, Mesago Messe Frankfurt. The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of Additive Manufacturing and AM processes, as well as solutions across the process chain such as software, digitisation solutions, pre-processing solutions, post-processing technology, surface finishing through quality assurance and measurement technology.

The exhibitors will offer the latest, products, services, and advice for a diverse range of industrial AM applications in many different sectors and user industries, ranging from mechanical engineering, automotive, aerospace, dental and medical technology to construction, oil and gas, shipbuilding and jewellery. International exhibitors make up around 55% of all companies exhibiting at the show, with the biggest exhibitor nations after Germany being China, the USA, France, Italy, the UK, Spain and the Netherlands.

This year, 285 new exhibitors will appear at Formnext for the first time. New exhibitors include 3M Advanced Materials, Bosch Rexroth, Covestro, Evonik, Mitsubishi, Thyssenkrupp Materials, and Xerox.

For the first time, Formnext 2019, in cooperation with PIM International magazine, will include a PIM/MIM/CIM Showcase, featuring more than one hundred components manufactured using Powder Injection Moulding, the umbrella term for Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) and Ceramic Injection Moulding (CIM).

A US Pavilion will also feature in the exhibition, showcasing the AM industry in the USA with a number of leading companies, and representatives from the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG), Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and US Commercial Service. A ‘Special US Day’ will take place on November 20, with various events at the pavilion and a closing reception sponsored by AMUG. The internationally acclaimed Standards Forum, which was launched in 2018, will also be continued this year in cooperation with the US Commercial Service.

A new BE-AM Symposium, hosted by the Technical University (TU) Darmstadt, will focus on AM activities in the construction industry and architecture. The symposium will bring together experts from the field, research, and industry to discuss the current state and future potential of AM within this sector. Topics under discussion will include digitisation, design, the use of different materials like steel, concrete and clay, as well as compliance with norms and standards, among other things. The symposium will be complemented by a special showcase featuring application examples from the construction industry.

Established events, such as the shared booth, additive4Industry user case area, Start-up Challenge, purmundus challenge, and the AM4U platform, which offers guidance on career opportunities, are also being continued and further expanded. In addition, an accompanying conference programme, organised by content partner TCT, will address current trends and developments in AM in 2019.

Also new to the 2019 event is Formnext.TV, which will show user films in advance of the event and daily live coverage during it. Sector-specific guided tours will be available over all days of the event for specialist visitors wishing to gain a more in-depth insight into the AM world, and daily Discover3Dprinting seminars will provide practical tips and valuable background information.
