Former Boeing CTO joins 3D Systems’ Board of Directors

3D Systems, Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA, has announced the addition of Dr John Tracy to the company’s Board of Directors. In line with 3D Systems’ strategy and focus on key vertical applications, the company states, Tracy brings with him deep experience in engineering, technology and leadership within the aerospace industry.

“We are very pleased to welcome John to our Board of Directors,” commented Wally Loewenbaum, 3D Systems’ Chairman. “He brings strong experience and expertise which we expect will further enhance the range of skills and expertise within our Board of Directors.”

Tracy reportedly has more than thirty-seven years of experience in the aerospace industry, most recently as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Technology at Boeing from 2006-2016. Prior to working for Boeing, he gained experience in technology, operations, quality and engineering from several aerospace companies, including Hercules Aerospace Company and McDonnell Douglas Corp.

He has also served as Vice President, Engineering and Mission Assurance for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems and Vice President Structural Technologies, Prototyping and Quality of Phantom Works at Boeing since 1979. During his tenure at The Boeing Company, states 3D Systems, he led engineering teams to achieve innovation breakthroughs and led notable aerospace products, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner commercial plane. He has also authored more than 40 publications in the areas of structural mechanics, launch vehicle structures, smart structures and ageing aircraft, and has received numerous awards and recognitions from the Hispanic community, including being named the 2006 Hispanic Engineer of the Year.
