MELD Manufacturing Corporation, based in Christiansburg, Virginia, USA, has announced Fooke GmbH, Borken, Germany, has become an authorised integrator for MELD’s metal Additive Manufacturing technology.

Under this collaboration announced at Formnext, Fooke will offer a range of machines integrated with MELD’s metal AM technology as part of a complete Fooke OEM system. This strategic partnership is intended to leverage the strengths of both companies, combining Fooke’s expertise in precision machining and industrial solutions with MELD’s large scale-metal Additive Manufacturing.

Through this partnership, Fooke will deliver a seamless and comprehensive solution to its customers, offering the latest in metal Additive Manufacturing technology. The integration of MELD’s technology into Fooke’s OEM systems is intended to enable customers in aviation, space, railway, automotive, and shipbuilding to push the boundaries of what is possible in large metal part production.

“Our customers in the space market asked us to integrate this technology into our machines. When we learned about this new process, we saw value for our customers in other industries as well,” stated Johannes Fooke, CEO, Fooke.

MELD uses a patented Additive Manufacturing technology based on a process similar to friction welding, and can be used for the building and repair of metal components using off-the-shelf solid-state materials or powder. The process is capable of additively manufacturing large metal parts due to the fact that it is an open-atmosphere process and is not sensitive to the operating environment or material surface condition.

“We are thrilled to become an authorised integrator for MELD Manufacturing Corporation,” added Hendrik Fooke, Head of Sales & Business Development at Fooke. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing quality solutions to our customers. MELD’s technology will enable us to offer both additive and subtractive capability on our machines, opening doors to previously unattainable possibilities for large scale parts manufactured on site.”

Fooke representatives can be visited at Formnext 2023 in the MELD booth at Hall 11, B41.
