FOMAS extends ISO 19443 scope to MIMETE metal powders

FOMAS Group, based in Osnago, Italy, has extended the scope of its ISO 19443-certified quality management system to include production of its MIMETE metal powders.
The company has produced metal powders since 2019 using vacuum induction melting inert gas atomisation (VIGA). Its powders are suitable for metal Additive Manufacturing processes, including Powder Bed Fusion, Directed Energy Deposition and Binder Jetting, as well as HIP applications.

The MIMETE portfolio includes iron-based 316L, M300 and H13 powders, nickel-based 718 powder and cobalt-based N75 powder. The company offers four particle-size distribution ranges to meet customer requirements.
Chemical, physical and morphological characterisation is carried out in-house, with selected testing performed by an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory within the group. Its in-house capabilities include sieving, blending, air classification and packaging.

The inclusion of metal powder production within the ISO 19443-certified quality management system is intended to strengthen process control, traceability, supply chain oversight and nuclear safety culture, as well as the prevention of counterfeit, fraudulent and suspect items.
FOMAS Group also lists ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 certifications for its HSE management system; EN 9100 and ISO 9001 for quality management; ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation; ISO 14067 for carbon footprint management; and UNI/PdR 125 for gender equality.
