The European Powder Metallurgy Institute (EPMI), a Sectoral Group of the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), has announced Susanne Norgren as its co-chair. Norgren, a Global Group Expert at Sandvik and Adjunct Professor, Division of Production and Materials Engineering at Lund University, joins existing EPMI co-chair Prof Dr Elena Gordo, University Carlos III, Madrid.

Within the field of Powder Metallurgy, Norgren has published seventy-five research articles in addition to 400 published patents and patent applications. Her research spans from materials design, sintering and tribology of hard metal sand diamond materials to design of TI alloys, Co-Cr alloys and fundamental research on Powder Metallurgy.

The European Powder Metallurgy Institute is the result of the formation of a group of major European PM focused research centres, and now comprises thirteen partners. Formerly the PMRADNET Sectoral Group, the EPMI works on the development of collaborative research projects across Europe, enabling the sharing of equipment and the transfer of students and staff between partners.
