Dr Hendrik Schafstall, formerly Co-Managing Director and CTO of Simufact Engineering, Hamburg, Germany, will succeed Michael Wohlmuth as CEO and Managing Director of the company as he steps down to assume a new role as Vice President for Strategic Business Development. At the same time, Stefan Zimmer, Senior Director Global Sales and Operations, will assume full responsibility for the operative sales business.

Wohlmuth and Schafstall founded Simufact Engineering in 1995. Speaking on his appointment to the position of CEO, Schafstall stated, “I look forward to meeting this challenging job and I want to thank my partner and friend, Michael Wohlmuth, for these exciting and great twenty-three years at Simufact Engineering. I am pleased that Michael will remain with his deep knowledge and experience to strengthen Strategic Business Development.”

Simufact Engineering, an MSC Software company, offers the simulation software Simufact Additive. Simufact Additive calculates distortions and residual stresses within components, shows the risk of aborted build jobs and enables users to minimise the number of physical attempts required to achieve a successful build. The software also covers post-processing simulations including heat treatment, support removal and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP). So far, the technology has been used primarily in the aerospace and automotive sectors.
