Cooksongold, Birmingham, UK, received a prestigious award for Innovation at the UK Retail Jewellery Awards, June 17, 2015, for its precious metal Additive Manufacturing technology. The award highlights the jewellery supplier’s work to continually develop technology to a commercial standard, enabling the creation of complex jewellery designs.

With 18 categories the awards cover every aspect of the jewellery industry. Competition this year was reported as being extremely tough with a record number of entries received. Cooksongold won the Innovation category for its Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing technology, and was also highly commended in the Supplier of the Year category.

David Fletcher, Business Development Manager at Cooksongold, stated, “It truly is an honour to have been nominated in both the Supplier of the Year and the Innovation Award categories at the 2015 UK Retail Jewellery Awards. The UK jewellery industry is at the forefront of both innovation and creative design in a global market. So to be recognised by our peers in the Innovation category for our direct Precious Metal 3D Printing technology is really fantastic.”

“The Cooksongold team have worked extremely hard to bring the technology to a commercial standard and will continue their work providing the industry with a new production process that will enable the creation of designs that were simply not possible until now. We would like to thank the organisers for a wonderful evening which showed why it really is a great industry to be involved in. Cooksongold will continue its support of the trade by providing its high quality service, supplying the tools and materials needed to create beautiful and innovative jewellery.”

The Direct Precious Metal 3D Printing system, the M 080, which was purpose built for precious metal production, utilises the power of 3D CAD design. The M 080 enables intricate one-off 3D designs to be manufactured within a few hours, dramatically reducing the time required from design idea to manufacture.
