Additive Manufacturing Technologies Ltd (AMT), headquartered in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK, has appointed Magnus René as the new chairman of its board of directors. René joins the company with decades of executive leadership experience in the growth of international technology companies.

Alongside this role, René is also supervisory board director and vice chairman of SLM Solutions GmbH, Lübeck, Germany; chairman of Ovzon AB, a satellite communications operator; board director of polymer AM company Inkbit Inc; and Board Director of Bomill AB, an agricultural technology provider.

Previous to these positions, René was the CEO of Arcam AB, where he helped to grow the company through global sales & service subsidiaries in the US, UK, Italy, Germany and China, and strategic acquisitions in Canada and the US. Arcam was publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm from 2012 and acquired by GE in 2018.

“I am honoured to take on this role at AMT at such a pivotal time in the Additive Manufacturing industry,” René commented. “AMT’s technology and ability in post-processing is instrumental in developing Additive Manufacturing processes fit for production. I look forward to being part of this innovative company, enabling Additive Manufacturing to become a viable alternative to traditional manufacturing.”

Joseph Crabtree, CEO and founder of AMT, added, “The appointment of Magnus René is strategic on several fronts: His experience in Additive Manufacturing speaks for itself, having grown Arcam to one of the leading AM metal companies. Our goals for AMT are set high, and we are on the right track. In the past two years alone, we have doubled our revenue, raised a total of $25 million funding for growth, and we have underpinned the world’s largest Additive Manufacturing operations with our automated post-processing platform.”

“We are excited to welcome Magnus as Chairman, and I know that his long history of international leadership in the public markets will help accelerate AMT’s strategic direction for the next stage in our growth journey.”
