Ampal expands US aluminium powder production with new powder line scheduled for mid-2025

United States Metal Powders, Inc (USMP) has announced a new aluminium powder manufacturing line at its Ampal Inc subsidiary based in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, USA. Scheduled to start full production in the summer of 2025, the new line is expected to offer the capability for both nodular and spherical aluminium powder production.

USMP, founded in 1918, is a leading provider of aluminium powders with two production companies, Ampal Inc and Poudres Hermillon, based in La Tour-en-Maurienne, France. Ampal, reported to be the largest producer of aluminium powder in North America, moved its production facility from Flemington, New Jersey, USA, to its current site in 1982 and has been operating in Palmerton for the last 42 years.

The company’s products are sold globally to a wide variety of end markets, these include the aerospace, defence, chemical, automotive, general industrial, consumer, construction, and energy sectors.
