Aidro Srl, Taino, Italy, has extended its DNV Additive Manufacturing facility certification to include Nickel Alloy 718 (Inconel 718). This builds on the company’s DNV qualifications for 316L and 17-4 PH achieved in 2023.

“Congratulations to Aidro on extending its DNV-ST-B203 facility qualification to include AM Nickel Alloy Type 718 at AMC 2 level, further expanding its list of qualified materials,” stated Dr Sastry Y Kandukuri, PhD, Global Practice Lead – Additive Manufacturing, DNV. “Processing Inconel 718 via AM requires advanced technical expertise to optimise printing parameters and heat treatment processes. Aidro’s this successful achievement reflects its ability to overcome complex material processing challenges while meeting DNV and end user’s stringent quality standards.

“With this new milestone, Aidro further strengthens its position as a trusted supplier of components made with high-criticality AM materials, enabling OEMs and end users to confidently adopt high-performance AM components for demanding oil & gas applications. I am glad that we could support their journey in advancing Additive Manufacturing for the energy sector.”

The latest certification is in accordance with the DNV service specification DNVG-SE-0568, Module B – Qualification of manufacturers, and aligned with best practices outlined in DNV-ST-B203.

Aidro has been working to drive the adoption of Additive Manufacturing in the energy sector. Aidro’s work with DNV began in 2018, when Aidro contributed to the drafting of the guidelines that became the basis of the DNV-ST-B203 standard. Aidro also has collaborated with the American Petroleum Institute and AM Energy to develop standards and promote the use of AM in the energy industry.
