ADDITIV Medical 2026, hosted by 3Dnatives, is set to take place online on October 21, 2026, bringing together more than 500 professionals from hospitals, medical device companies and Additive Manufacturing providers worldwide.

Now in its ninth edition, the summit will focus on the exchange of knowledge around the use of Additive Manufacturing in healthcare, including applications such as patient-specific anatomical models and surgical guides. Examples highlighted by the organisers include a surgeon in Barcelona rehearsing a cardiac repair using a model produced from a patient’s scan, and a children’s hospital in Nebraska producing a custom cranial guide within days rather than weeks.

Participants are expected to include surgeons and Additive Manufacturing specialists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and Children’s Nebraska.

Industry speakers will include Erez Ben-Zvi, Vice President of Healthcare at Stratasys; Dan Crawford, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Axial3D; and Michael Librus, CEO and Founder of Synergy3DMed.

The event will run from 10:00 AM to 12:40 PM EDT (4:00 PM to 6:40 PM CEST) on Wednesday, October 21, and will be free to attend. The programme will comprise three expert panel discussions, each followed by a live audience Q&A session.

Panel 1: Can We Trust AI to Design a Patient-Specific Model? (4:10 PM to 4:55 PM CEST)

Overview: When a software algorithm takes over the design of a custom implant or anatomical model, who is ultimately responsible for its accuracy? This session tackles the friction between rapid automation and patient safety, from verifying that an AI hasn’t misread a scan to where algorithmic efficiency ends and human liability begins.

Overview: The clinical benefits of customised medical Additive Manufacturing are clear, but the financial pathways to sustain it are not. This panel digs into who absorbs the upfront capital costs, whether hospitals can secure insurance reimbursement for personalised guides, and how institutions build a
repeatable return on investment.

This discussion explores how physical, patient-specific models and guides are shifting preoperative planning, from time saved in the operating room to where the scan-to-build pipeline still bottlenecks.
