Headmade Materials GmbH, based in Wuerzburg, Germany, reports it has qualified Inconel 625 and titanium aluminide TiAl4822 for the ColdMetalFusion process. The qualification is part of the company’s roadmap to support a wide range of materials for the ColdMetalFusion standard.

Titanium aluminide TiAl4822 is said to possess excellent mechanical properties, oxidation and corrosion resistance, as well as high-temperature strength. These characteristics make it ideal for advanced aerospace and innovative manufacturing. TiAl4822 was co-developed with Element22, Kiel, Germany, a specialist in high-volume titanium part manufacturing using the ColdMetalFusion process.

Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy known for its high strength and excellent heat and corrosion resistance. These characteristics make it ideal for components used in corrosive environments, particularly within the aerospace and oil & gas industries. After undergoing heat treatment, Inconel 625 can reportedly achieve a tensile strength of 789 MPa and an elongation of up to 38%, surpassing the ASTM B443 standard.

“We are delighted to the release of Inconel 625 and titanium aluminide TiAl4822 for the ColdMetalFusion standard,” stated Christian Staudigel, Managing Director of Headmade Materials. “Our new offerings will allow ColdMetalFusion users the production of complex metal parts with superior performance and we believe this offering is highly demanded across many industries.”
