Successful first Norwegian national Additive Manufacturing conference
The Norwegian Additive Manufacturing Cluster (Norwegian AM) hosted its first national conference for Additive Manufacturing from March 21-22, in Trondheim, Norway. As reported in Maskinregisteret, a total of 170 international participants attended the event and were presented with the latest news, trends and opportunities within the AM industry.
Norwegian AM was established in 2022 to bring together a relatively broad industry in Norway that was in need of a meeting place and an industry focus. The members had identified that Norway’s Additive Manufacturing industry is reputed to not only lag behind that seen in countries such as Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and France, but is also a little behind its Nordic neighbours.
Several AM technologies are in the process of gaining a foothold in Norway, particularly in sectors such as health, defence, maritime and oil. The aim of the conference was therefore to present examples of the use of Additive Manufacturing in industrial applications, with presentations from companies such as Equinor, Wilhelmsen, Vår Energi, Kongsberg Maritime and Lærdal Medical, along with event partners SINTEF and the Norwegian University for Science & Technology (NTNU) among some twenty speakers.
Running alongside the conference was a small exhibition for both equipment and service suppliers. There were a number of social events and a tour of SINTEF’s 3D lab.
