Atlantic XL acquires AM machine from SLM Solutions
Atlantic XL, based in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, has announced that it will be operating what is reputedly the first commercially available metal Additive Manufacturing machine in Newfoundland and Labrador with the purchase of a SLM®280 machine from SLM Solutions, Lübeck, Germany.
“We decided on the SLM 280 because of the open architecture system. It gives us the freedom to adapt everything we need,” stated Marty Gaulin, Director of Additive Manufacturing at Atlantic XL. “The excellent collaboration with our team and the technically acceptable equipment supported our decision.”
This capability is hoped to contribute to net-zero manufacturing by reducing its carbon footprint as well as reducing long lead times, solving part obsolescence and reducing costs by opening the possibility of a digital warehouse concept.
