GKN Additive adopts DP600 low-alloy steel for Binder Jetting
GKN Additive has added Free Sintering Low Alloy (FSLA) steel to its range of materials suitable for high-volume Binder Jetting (BJT) Additive Manufacturing. The new powder is an adaptation of DP600 (HCT600X/C), a widely used low alloy dual-phase steel used in the automotive industry.
FSLA offers similar mechanical properties to DP600, such as higher ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and low yield strength (YS) to UTS ratio. On top of this, FSLA has also been adapted for AM with regard to spreadability and sinterability.
The mechanical properties of FSLA can also be significantly tailored using heat treatment following the BJT process, ensuring its suitability for a variety of different industrial applications.
In addition to FSLA, GKN Additive offers 316L and 17-4 PH stainless steels for Binder Jetting AM.
