GKN reports success of first US Additive Manufacturing Experience Days

GKN Sinter Metals Blog has published a report following GKN Sinter Metals, Radevormwald, Germany’s inaugural US Additive Manufacturing Experience Days, held in the USA from March 22-23, 2017. The event, organised in partnership with EOS, was designed to offer potential users of AM with a hands-on experience of the technology and its applications.
According to GKN, the Experience Days were attended by more than 30 experts from Ford, GM and FCA. As well as taking part in a welcome meeting and EOS plant tour, guests attended workshops and took part in discussions on topics including material development, machines and equipment for AM, design for AM, AM pain points, topology optimisation, net value and feasibility and more.
GKN reports that further events are planned to take place in May-June 2017. Future days will offer users experience of:
· Part screening: learning how to identify potential AM applications
· Leveraging design for AM
· Technical discussions with leading experts in AM
· Interactive hands-on AM workshops
