Osprey becomes independent following completion of Mimir acquisition

Swedish investment company Mimir, headquartered in Stockholm, has completed its acquisition of Osprey from Sandvik. Osprey will now operate as an independent advanced materials company, supplying gas atomised metal powders, controlled expansion alloys and engineered materials for demanding applications.
With production sites in Neath, Wales and Sandviken, Sweden, Osprey combines more than 50 years of metallurgical expertise with established manufacturing capabilities and long-standing customer relationships. Under Mimir’s ownership, the company will reportedly focus on developing its advanced materials business through investment in capacity, alloy development and long-term customer partnerships.

Mimir stated that customers will continue to work with the same teams and receive products made on the same qualified production lines, to the same specifications. Existing contracts, orders and technical contacts remain unchanged, and ordering continues without interruption. Customers will be notified directly in advance of any changes to company names or registration details on documentation.
“Osprey has deep technical expertise and a strong foundation to build on,” stated Joakim Notö, Group Chairman & Managing Partner, Mimir. “Our role is to give the business the focus, investment and speed of decision making to take its next step. We have carved out and built a significant number of businesses since 2017, and we intend to be a long term owner.”
