America Makes to host workshop on metal AM standards coordination
America Makes, based in Youngstown, Ohio, is set to host a workshop focused on the development and coordination of standards for metal Additive Manufacturing on October 22, 2026. The event, Metal AM Standards Handbook: Building a Common Framework, will take place at the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), Wichita, Kansas.
The workshop is intended to bring together stakeholders to map the existing metal Additive Manufacturing standards landscape and examine gaps, overlaps and differing approaches across materials, processes, applications and industry sectors.
Participants will review existing standards and industry practices, discuss areas where further work may be required, identify gaps and priorities, and define potential actions for future standards development and coordination.
America Makes stated that the intended outcome is a stakeholder-informed foundation for a potential Metal AM Standards Handbook, together with a prioritised set of actions for future standards development.
