Renishaw plc, headquartered in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, UK, has reported that increased demand for its Additive Manufacturing machines was the main growth driver in its Specialised Technologies segment during its 2026 financial year.

Specialised Technologies was Renishaw’s fastest-growing segment, with revenue reaching £107.5 million for the year ended June 30, 2026, up 43% from £75.0 million in FY2025. Adjusted operating profit reached £4.7 million, compared with an adjusted operating loss of £9.9 million in the previous year.

FY2026 was Renishaw’s first year reporting under three new business segments: Industrial Metrology, Position Measurement and Specialised Technologies. The Specialised Technologies segment comprises the company’s Additive Manufacturing, spectroscopy and neurological product lines. The segment figures therefore do not represent standalone AM revenue or profit.

Renishaw stated that growth in Specialised Technologies was driven mostly by sharply higher demand for its AM machines, particularly from the aerospace and defence sectors. The company secured multiple-machine orders from existing customers and stated that it was gaining market share, particularly in these markets. All product lines within Specialised Technologies generated a profit during the year.

Growth was also evident geographically. In the Americas, Renishaw reported strong demand for high-value capital equipment, including its metal AM machines. The company said aerospace and defence, along with power generation, were the main drivers of growth in the region. Total group revenue from the Americas increased by 35% at constant exchange rates to £219.0 million.

In EMEA, where total revenue increased by 3% at constant exchange rates to £214.9 million, Renishaw also reported good growth in sales of AM machines.

Renishaw also highlighted recent developments in its AM software. The company launched its LIBERTAS software at Formnext 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany. Renishaw states that the software enables complex geometries to be produced without the need for additional supports. The company also cited its TEMPUS technology as part of the development of its AM offering.

Beyond its established aerospace and defence activities, Renishaw reported increased interest in AM from the consumer electronics sector, which it sees as a potential area for further expansion.
