Norsk Titanium joins America Makes JAQS-SQ programme
Norsk Titanium, headquartered in Hønefoss, Norway, has been selected for its first ‘America Makes’ project, joining the Joint Additive Qualification for Sustainment – Supplier Qualification programme (JAQS-SQ).
The fully funded twelve-month JAQS-SQ project will enable Norsk Titanium to support qualification pathways for Rapid Plasma Deposition (RPD), accelerating broader adoption of Additive Manufacturing across defence applications. Norsk Titanium states that, upon completion of the project, it will hold qualified status as a supplier of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy products across all US Department of Defense (DoD) services. The company also states that its RPD Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy was recently accepted into the Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization (MMPDS) Handbook and qualified for aerospace and other defence applications.
This selection follows Norsk Titanium’s recent award under the Defense Industrial Base Expansion, Development, and Growth Enterprise (DIB-EDGE) initiative, under which the DoD committed $4.2 million to advance RPD for submarine and maritime applications as part of its Industrial Base Policy.
