MPIF names 2025 Metallography Award winner

The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has announced that the winner of its 2025 Excellence in Metallography Award is ‘The Effect of Heat Treatment on the Microstructure of Additively Manufactured Abrasion Resistant Ni-Hard Steel Parts’ by Thomas F Murphy and Christopher T Schade, FAPMI, and Kerri M Horvay, Hoeganaes Corporation.

The winning paper was selected from among the manuscripts that were presented at the PowderMet2025/AMPM2025 conferences, held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, and critically evaluated for the prestigious award.
The paper is available for download on the APMI website here. It is also included in Advances in Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy—2025 and published in the fall issue of the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy.
Authors Murphy, Schade, and Horvay will be officially recognised during the next WorldPM, scheduled to take place in Montreal, Canada, from June 25-29, 2026.
