3rd European Military Additive Manufacturing Symposium issues call for papers

The German Society for Defense Technology eV, organiser of the 3rd European Military Additive Manufacturing Symposium, has issued a call for papers for the two-day event. The symposium, set to take place from April 8-9, 2025, in Bonn, Germany, is intended to address military requirements and challenges, while hearing perspectives from Original Equipment Manufacturers, AM machine makers and service providers, as well as researchers and academia.
The symposium aims to foster a shared understanding of AM’s benefits and limitations, while promoting sustainable cooperation among stakeholders to realise its potential for military applications.
Those interested in presenting a paper should focus on one of the following topics and its relation to the military, if not directly related:
- Military Use Cases—Products and applications
- Where AM makes the difference and provides operational advantages to Armed Forces (e.g., cost savings, reverse engineering, medical solutions, etc)
- Industrial solutions/technologies/post-processing
- Capability Enabler – AM Solutions tailored to the mission
- State-of-the-art capabilities – what’s useful for armed forces?
- Logistic Supply Chain
- Additive Manufacturing – an embedded enabler within the logistic supply chain.
- Best practices/Lessons learned
- AM solutions providing an operational military advantage.
- AM applications in conflict scenarios.
- Experience from field testing.
- Research & Innovation
- Is there more to come? What’s next?
- AM beyond its technical aspects – regulatory framework and enablers
- How to ensure safe and reliable AM products? – up to the highest standards in medical applications and airworthiness, including cyber and IT security/data management
- Circular Economy
- AM for military purpose: A potential contribution to circular economy? (Reduced impact along the lifecycle, recycling and use of recycled materials, biobased materials, eco-friendly processes and ancillaries)
- The Digital Perspective of AM

Paper proposals should be written in English and feature a maximum of 250 words. Proposals will be accepted until November 27, 2024, and can be submitted here. The programme committee will review all the proposals and authors will be notified in December 2024.
Early-bird registration for the event is available until December 31, 2024.
