Velo3D, Campbell, California, USA, has received a $20 million order for its metal Additive Manufacturing machines from an existing aerospace customer. The order is said to be the largest to date for Velo3D since its commercial launch in September 2018.

“This significant order validates that Velo3D’s SupportFree process is production-ready,” stated Benny Buller, the company’s founder and CEO. “Our recent successes across various industrial sectors show that many OEMs and contract manufacturers are adapting their supply chain to meet the demands of manufacturing mission-critical components.”

“Design freedom, agile production, and quality assurance are requirements that Velo3D is uniquely positioned to meet,” he continued. Velo3D’s AM technology enables greater geometric freedom through its patented SupportFree process, reported to reduce the need for support structures for complex passageways, shallow overhangs and low angles.

Velo3D’s portfolio consists of its Flow™ pre-build software, Sapphire® Laser Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB) AM machine, and Assure™ quality assurance and control system. News of this latest order comes after Velo3D’s recent completion of a $40 million fundraising round, increasing its total fundraising to $150 million to date.
